LVMH Invests In Bono's Clothing Line
The Wall Street Journal's sources say that Bono and his wife Ali Hewson may be close to inking a deal to sell a large stake of the Edun fashion line to LVMH. Per the perms of the deal Louis Vuitton Moet Hennessy could soon own nearly 50 percent of the eco-conscious fashion line. Edun sells organic cotton fashion manufactured in countries including Peru, Kenya and Uganda.
Edun is a for-profit business that was founded in 2005 on the premise of trade versus aid as a means of building sustainable communities. An equity investment by LVMH would allow Edun to expand its reach by having the substantial marketing and production power of the world's largest luxury-goods firm at its disposal. Philippe Starck Plans Fashion Line
You've eaten in his restaurants and sat on his chairs, now you can drape yourself in Philippe Starck. The prolific French designer is working with cashmere brand Ballantyne to create a collection for men and woman. The new project and brand, Starck With Ballantyne will feature a combination of multi function garments, with new ergonomics and contemporary fittings. The modern take on cashmere will be done in 30 pieces for men and women in both cashmere and modern and technical fabrics. I haven''t been able to find any pictures but Glam describes a collection that includes fluorescent silk linings for lighter garments, hoods on knitwear and outerwear and teddy bear detachable waistcoats. The line will be on sale this fall in Ballantyne flagship stores and selected multi-brand stores. This isn't Starck's first foray into fashion, he has also created a line of bodywear (Starck Naked) with Puma.

Today we get a more detailed look at the upcoming footwear from the adidas Originals By Originals David Beckham footwear collection, developed in collaboration with James Bond from Undefeated. The footwear line includes the ZX 8000 in three colorways and the Marathon Mid hiking boot. Some of the colors are certainly attracting attention, but not in a negative way, especially because if a more prominent color was used, no other colors appear, keeping the look overall clean.

I was absolutely blown away when I saw one of Irina Shaposhnikova’s knitted pieces in Russian Vogue. She is about to graduate from the MA at Antwerp Royal Academy of Fine Arts this coming June, so You won’t have to wait long to see more of her highly anticipated knitted creations.
These pieces are from her last collection at the Academy of arts. I can’t speak for anyone else but I definitely haven’t seen knit like this before. The cables are sewn onto almost invisible nylon mesh giving a knitted cabled cage affect.

Which is why, during the month of May, our “It Girl” will become our “It Duo” as we profile a different designer and his model-muse. And, who best to start the series and exemplify this intriguing, symbiotic relationship than fashion’s most iconic pairing (and this year’s gala hosts) Kate Moss and Marc Jacobs.
Jacobs has clearly been inspired by Moss— whether he’s designing a collection inspired by Moss’s personal style (the most memorable of which, perhaps, was his fantastic, never-produced, “grunge” line for Perry Ellis) or vacationing with her and daughter Lila in Formenterra, Spain, there is no denying the two share some inextirpable bond. As Jacobs explains in Vogue’s May Issue “What really informs our [designers] choice is a personal connection.”
And while he admits Moss personal style has influenced his collections, he claims he finds a strong personality far more fascinating their choices in fashion. “It’s her person that interests me,” he says of Moss. “It’s the life and spirit.” So what if Moss’s “life and spirit” has become a permanent fixture in the international press? That’s exactly how this designer likes it. “ It’s the imperfection that I find so beautiful,” Jacobs says. Perhaps Jacobs has stumbled upon the integral ingredient of the model-muse relationship: perfection in imperfection. One look at any of Jacob’s collections, past or present, reflects just that. It’s a delicate dance, and Marc and Kate are the choreographers.

Working on the search team over the last few years, I have heard interesting stories of how Google has made a difference to individuals across the world. For instance, Yanick Cusson from Canada wrote to tell us about how he found his father:"I will always remember the very first day I got Internet at home. I had not seen my father in 17 years and had no clue where he was. The very first web page I went to was Google, and I simply wrote his name in the search box, and guess what? A public announcement from the government dated four years back mentioned him as promoted! I called the person who wrote the announcement, and by luck, she worked one floor up from my father's office. She transferred me directly to him, and we started talking. We have been in touch since then, and it's great!"

Adidas is no stranger to the street culture scene, and their latest move seems right on target: the Adidas Urban Art Guide to Berlin is an iPhone travel guide listing Berlin’s best graffiti.
Users download the application for free, giving them access to a Google map of Berlin that’s pegged with the locations of its urban art masterpieces. The map can be navigated in several ways: "Find artworks nearby" provides users with a map of art works in their immediate vicinity; "Tour guide" calls up a curated walking tour of local urban art; and "Gallery" gives users the option to browse the city's street art and then seek out their favourite pieces. Users can click on each marked location to call up images as well as information about the piece, the artist and further references.
The app’s interactive elements including rating and commenting functionalities, and letting users upload their own snaps of new art, which keeps the map cutting-edge at no extra cost to Adidas. Berlin is currently the only city on the Urban Art Guide's map, but plans are underway to develop similar guides for other cities.
Although a growing audience appreciates street art, few traditional guide books make any mention of it. So this is a smart move on behalf of Adidas, getting the brand straight into the hands of its target audience, while reaffirming its street credentials. Through stunning displays of aerial camerawork, the film will give people from all corners of the world a glimpse of our planet like never before and visually demonstrate the urgency for preservation efforts. In addition to its Internet premiere, "Home" will be shown in movie theaters and outdoors on big screens at key locations around the globe. It will also air on TV stations around the world. Using this unique distribution model, one with a massive online and offline effort, the film creators are able to reach the widest audience possible. So whether you'd prefer to head to the theaters, watch it under the stars, or just stay put on the couch — the way you view "Home" is up to you.
And starting today, YouTube channels in English, French, Spanish and German will feature behind-the-scenes looks from the making of the film, as well as interviews, and extras. To add even more dimension, Google Maps is featuring specially created layers that shed more light on some of the material covered in the movie. You can also use Maps to find a theater location near you.

It has long been known that heat is an effective weapon against tumor cells. However, it's difficult to heat patients' tumors without damaging nearby tissues.
Now, MIT researchers have developed tiny gold particles that can home in on tumors, and then, by absorbing energy from near-infrared light and emitting it as heat, destroy tumors with minimal side effects.
